About us

Kadant Unaflex, a small manufacturer of Expansion Joints, seeks to create and maintain a healthy and safe environment on a daily basis.

Job Description:

Our growing organization is seeking a Safety Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for working with our employees to make sure they are following all safety protocols and procedures, as well as monitoring compliance with the Safety Management System. The ideal candidate will be responsible for facilitating compliance with occupational health and safety guidelines (OSHA, EPA, DHEC). The successful candidate must also attend regular safety meetings with management and be available to respond to urgent environmental issues.

Responsibilities:

Support the development of OHS policies and programs

Conduct risk assessment and enforce preventative measures

Initiate and organize OHS training of employees and executives

Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity

Record and investigate incidents to determine causes and handle worker's compensation claims

Identify and assess hazards, risks and control measures for a specific operation or process.

Conduct ongoing review of operations and processes to identify potential hazards, risks and control measures that should be implemented to reduce these risks, including costs involved in implementing such measures.

Access and document hazards, risks and controls in a manner consistent with established procedures and practices.

Supervise the operation of any potential hazards in the workplace.

Provide OSHA training if necessary.

Ensure that health, safety, and environmental policies are followed.

Investigate workplace accidents and injuries and refer them to proper authorities.

Education & Qualifications:

Associate Degree in Safety Management, Engineering, or relevant experience (5 years)

OSHA Certifications

CPR/First Aid Training

Knowledge & Experience:

Three to Five Years in a safety and environmental role or similar

Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices

Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety

Proficient in MS Office: Working knowledge of safety management information systems is a plus

Outstanding organizational skills

Diligent with great attention to detail

Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and explain health and safety topics
